The woman is involved in a divorce process and has been living apart from her husband for the past year. She met a man two years ago who works for the railway and promised her a job.
They maintained their conversation over the phone, and on July 21, he invited her to a modest birthday party at his house. Around 10:30 p.m., she exited the Kirti Nagar metro station, from which point the accused picked her up and brought her to platforms 8 to 9 of the New Delhi railway station.
She was then instructed to sit in a hut reserved for the personnel of the electrical department. After that, he and his friend entered the room, locked it from inside, and repeatedly assaulted her sexually. Two of his accomplices made the assault easier by guarding the room from outside.
She was then driven to a local public hospital where she was made to undergo a medical examination. Her medical report stated that rape had happened. The FIR for rape was then filed by the police, along with the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
