The J&K police registered a case against “those who sang Pakistani national anthem after India World Cup loss in T20, Bar to govt jobs to offenders.

In a massive crackdown on anti-national sentiment, the Jammu and Kashmir government Monday began identifying those who sang the Pakistani national anthem at the Medical College in Srinagar after Pakistan defeated India in the first showdown between the two teams in the ongoing T20 World Cup. The Jammu and Kashmir government has said it will file FIRs against those identified as singing the Pakistani national anthem. Moreover, it will also deter them from selecting for government jobs.

A few videos posted on Twitter by handles, like one called “Propoganda Division,” are going viral on social media. The videos show people, supposedly students, singing the Pakistani national anthem.

After Pakistan won the T20I for the first time by 10 wickets, Pakistan’s Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid said that all Muslims around the world including Indian Muslims were supporting Pakistan during the match. At the same time, PDP President Mehbooba Mufti asked why there is so much anger against Kashmiris to celebrate Pakistan’s victory.

Many Muslims in India also celebrated Pakistan's victory. This didn't sit well with former Indian Cricketer Virender Sehwag, who lashed out on those celebrating in India by bursting crackers.

He wrote on Twitter, “Firecrackers are banned during Diwali but yesterday in parts of India there were firecrackers to celebrate Pakistan‘s victory. Achha they must have been celebrating victory of cricket. Toh , what’s the harm in fireworks on Diwali. Hypocrisy kyun ,Saara gyaan tab hi yaad aata hai.”

Meanwhile, People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader Mehbooba Mufti asked, “Why such anger against Kashmiris for celebrating Pak’s victory?”

Why such anger against Kashmiris for celebrating Pak’s win? Some are even chanting murderous slogans- desh ke gadaaron ko goli maaro/calling to shoot traitors. However, the Kashmiris have hit back at Mufti, declaring that those who feasted after Pakistan defeated India are not Kashmiris but “settlers”. Speaking to Republic, Kashmiri Pandit and activist Lalit Ambardar said: “I am not surprised that such a statement comes from Mehbooba Mufti and his company. They are on the ground of the Pakistani establishment in Kashmir. Every time she exposes herself and shows her allegiance to her masters in Pakistan.”

Congress national media coordinator Radhika Khera mocked Indians while celebrating Pakistan’s victory against India in the T20 World Cup. Pakistan beat India by 10 wickets while chasing a target of 152. Radhika Khera was overjoyed with the victory and appeared to interpret it as a defeat for ‘Bhakts’ and not for India as a country.

In her first tweet, the Congress national media coordinator said, “What Bhakts? How’s the taste? You have managed to humiliate yourselves?”

The Srinagar Police late on Monday night registered FIRs against a section of the students of two top local medical colleges after their videos celebrating Pakistan’s victory over India in Sunday’s T 20 World Cup match went viral.

Top sources in the J&K Police confirmed the registration of two FIRs in the matter — under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act and relevant IPC sections.
