The third culprit in the gang-rape of a teenage girl in Hyderabad’s Jubilee Hills last week has been detained by the Telangana Police. In the Hyderabad rape case, three people have been arrested so far, including two juveniles.
One of the suspects, Saduddin Malik, was detained yesterday, while the second, a juvenile, was arrested earlier today.
According to police, “two children in conflict with the law were detained by Jubilee Hills police today as part of the arrest of accused Saduddin Malik. They are being brought before the Juvenile Court to be taken into custody.”
Meanwhile, Telangana Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) head Bandi Sanjay wrote to Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Saturday, demanding that the Hyderabad gang-rape case be handed over to the CBI and that all of the culprits be arrested.
Earlier, Jana Sena Party leaders and workers protested at the Jubliee Hills Police Station, seeking justice for the rape victim in Hyderabad. They were apprehended afterwards.
The second accused was the son of a VIP, but police refused to divulge his identity because doing so would identify the juvenile, which would be against the laws. Police were unable to apprehend the kid on Friday. Police had explained that they were not allowed to apprehend him during the night.
There are a total of five people who have been identified. Deputy Commissioner of Police (West Zone) Joel Davis stated at a press conference that the suspect, Saduddin Malik, had been apprehended by the police.
Three of the five people identified are children, according to the authorities. The cops were led to the offender by CCTV footage and the victim’s statement.
“The rape victim in Hyderabad was unable to provide any information about the culprits. But she did manage to divulge one identity, and special squads were organised right afterwards to track them out. The footage from the CCTV cameras has been recovered. According to CCTV evidence, we have identified five suspects, and according to the victim’s account, the detectives have identified a juvenile boy and his location has been found. Minors should not be apprehended at night, according to the law. On Saturday, I am hopeful that we will be able to apprehend him.”
