The rooftop of the dargah on the grounds of the District Civil Court in Dharwad, Karnataka, has been cleared.
The District Judge had written a letter to the deputy commissioner, requesting that he take action against the unauthorised construction of the roof of the Hajrath Sayyed Ismail Sha Khadari Rehmatullah dargah on the court grounds, as well as the sale of gutkha and pan masala there.
The HDMC served notice to the person in charge of the construction after a series of complaints were filed by lawyers and litigants against the illegal construction.
While constructing the roof with steel sheets, the District Judge pointed out that there was an encroachment of land. He had stated that the petitioners were having difficulty getting to the Court because construction materials had been dumped on the premises.
As a result of this, the project manager voluntarily removed the rooftop amid tight police security.
