The Mansa Bar Association has voted two resolutions condemning the killing of musician Sidhu Moosewala, according to a recent update on the case. No lawyer from the Mansa District Bar Association (in Punjab’s Mansa District) will defend any of the suspects in the Sidhu Moosewala murder case, according to Mansa Bar Association authorities.
According to sources, the Mansa Bar Association’s resolution, as well as a similar petition, has been sent to the Punjab and Haryana High Court Bar Associations.
Officials from the Mansa Bar Association have organised a seven-member panel to oversee Sidhu Moosewala’s case so that it can be completed without delay.
On Tuesday, a member of the Mansa Bar Association said, “Mansa bar members have passed two resolutions, we have asked all Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh lawyers not to defend Sidhu Moosewala, who is suspected of murder. The second resolution is that no lawyer from the Mansa district will represent the accused, and we have formed a panel of prominent lawyers to investigate the murder of Sidhu Moosewala.”
According to sources, the whole Mansa district’s legal community is supporting Sidhu Moosewala’s family. The family of Sidhu Moosewala will receive legal aid from a team of seven lawyers.
The Mansa District Bar Association said on Tuesday that a group of lawyers will provide free legal assistance to the singer-family.
Sidhu Moosewala was travelling in his own Mahindra Thar vehicle with two other persons, his friend and cousin, in Mansa’s Jawaharke village at 5.30 p.m. on May 29. Two cars, a white Bolero and a dark Grey Scorpio approached his vehicle from the front, and heavy gunfire followed.
All three people were hit by bullets during the shooting. When Moosewala arrived at the hospital, he was confirmed dead. Satinder Singh, alias Goldy Brar, a Canadian gangster, claimed responsibility for the murder by posting a message on social media many hours after the Punjabi artist was murdered.Brar admitted that the killing was carried out by him, Sachin Bishnoi, and the Lawrence Bishnoi group.
Moosewala was one of 424 people whose security was temporarily removed or restricted by the Punjab Police. The crime was described by state police as an inter-gang feud, with the Lawrence Bishnoi group being blamed for the murder.
The Punjab Police made the first arrest in this case two days after the murder, on May 31. Manpreet Singh, who was apprehended in Uttarakhand, was accused of supplying the assailants with logistical support.
On Monday, the Punjab Police conducted a raid on the alleged shooter’s home. Jagroop Singh Roopa, a resident of Tarn Taran’s Jaura village district, has been identified as the alleged shooter. He was not, however, present at his residence.
The police have formed up to 15 teams in order to apprehend those responsible for the murder.
