On Friday, police said, his family members, the legal fraternity, and political leaders staged a demonstration outside the SDM office with his body, a day after an advocate died by setting himself on fire, blaming a sub-divisional magistrate and a police official.
Meanwhile, the Rajasthan State Human Rights Commission took Suo Moto action and issued notices to the chief secretary, director general of police, Sikar collector, and district superintendent of police, requiring them to submit a factual report within 15 days.
Protesters demanded that Sub-Divisional Magistrate Rakesh Kumar and Khandela Station House Officer (SHO) Ghasiram Meena, whom advocate Hansraj Mawaliya had blamed in his suicide note, be arrested.
“The administration has been given a charter of demands. We are holding a protest with the body outside the Khandela SDM office, and cremation will take place only after the demands are met “Amraram, the CPIM’s leader, told PTI.
Sikar SP Kunwar Rashtradeep responded to the demonstration by saying, “We’re having a meeting about the demands right now. Only after the discussion will a decision be made.”
The administration wanted the post-mortem to be done on Thursday night because it was a sensitive matter, but the autopsy was done on Friday morning after talks with the district collector, he said.
According to the CPIM leader, advocates from across the state will hold a protest demanding justice for the deceased advocate.
Mawaliya claimed in his suicide note that Sikar Sub-Divisional Magistrate Rakesh Kumar had been harassing him for a bribe for every hearing in his court and had threatened him with a notice if he did not pay the money. He also claimed that Khandela SHO Meena threatened him if he said anything negative about Kumar.
