On March 28, Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga, Senior leader of Bharatiya Janata Party, shared that the First Investigation Report (FIR) registered against him at Patiala Police station had been withdrawn by Aam Aadmi Party. In a tweet, he said, “Kejriwal Govt on Backfoot, after yesterday’s backlash they have withdrawn FIR against me silently. Big slap on Kejriwal’s face.”
Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga mentioned earlier in his tweet “one Arvind Kejriwal is born only when 10 lakh scoundrels die.” The tweet which immediately went viral was done in response to Arvind Kejriwal’s harsh remarks about calling Kashmir Files a jhooti film (a film which is false).
The Delhi Chief Minister along with other AAP members was found having a horse laugh in the Delhi Assembly while addressing the Kashmiri Pandit issue. The mockery has hurt the sentiments of millions of Kashmiri Pandits who are still trying to cope with the brutality of the 1990 Kashmiri Pandit genocide.
The FIR filed was not in cognizance with law. Ashwani Dubey, a senior advocate in the Supreme Court clarified on Twitter, “FIR registered against Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga in Punjab is without any jurisdiction, contrary to the law & misuse of authority. The alleged offender & victim both are residents of Delhi & the FIR is lodged in a different state/jurisdiction. This is called ABUSE OF POWER.”
Many are prophesying the rise of anarchy and misuse of power in the state of Punjab pointing to the unethical FIR filed against Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga for merely exercising the freedom of speech. “The anarchy in Punjab has just begun. Tough times ahead for the people of Punjab,” says Kapil Parmar, Punjab incharge of Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha.
Quoting Ramkumar Jha, Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga tweeted “you may lodge 100 FIRs but if Kejriwal says that the genocide of Kashmiri Pandits is a lie, I will speak, if he laughs on the onslaught of Kashmiri Pandits, I will speak. And I don’t care even if I have to bear serious consequences for this. I will not leave Kejriwal, I will put a nail in his nose.”
